About Kristie
Kristie first developed a passion for cakes at a young age, under the patient guidance of her grandmother, a gifted cake decorator. After completing her chef’s apprenticeship at some of Brisbane’s finest restaurants, including the award winning E’cco Bistro, and later Harvey’s, the lure of travel was too tempting and Kristie ventured to Italy and France, where she sampled every pastry on offer. Thus establishing where her career would take her.
Returning to Brisbane, Kristie again worked as a qualified chef, this time turning her attention to her first love, pastry, and after completing further studies she has never looked back. As head pastry chef at E’cco Bistro she was fortunate enough to work with Philip Johnson on the successful dessert cookbook, ‘Decadence’, an experience she found both exciting and rewarding. The idea to own her own kitchen has always been a passion and after such an enjoyable time in the restaurant industry, Kristie decided it was time to make this dream a reality.
Kristie is proud to be operating her own kitchen, Queen of Cakes. The joy in creating cakes and sharing in the excitement of celebration is a privilege. She feels honoured that in a small way she is able to help create a wonderful occasion.
